UN Women Somalia serves as the technical lead in the provision of support to state and non-state actors for the development and implementation of progressive and trasnformative policies and programmes in the pursuit of gender equality and women's empowerment. UN Women Somalia, under the Joint Rule of Law programme and the Joint Programme on Women, Peace and Protection has been providing support for the implementation of strategic priority pillar 1 on inclusive politics and strategic priority pillar 2 on security and the rule of law under the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework. The interventions led and supported by UN Women are contributing to steady progress on the GEWE agenda in Somalia, including through building the capacity of female leaders to advocate for the adoption of policies and legislation that protects and promotes the rights of women and girls in Somalia and supporting the launch and implementation of the Somalia National Action Plan which calls for women's leadership and participation in the cycle of peace and security processes.Disclaimer and notes
