Climate smart agricultural policies are gender responsive and women's land tenure security is increased.
UN Women worked with civil society to advocate for Climate smart agriculture policies and increase gender responsive and women’s land tenure security. With UN Women support, more 4000 women have gained access and control over productive resources including land and are engaged in climate smart agriculture. For instance, 1,400 rural women from Bugiri district gained access and used water resources to produce fish from fish cages, harvested 132,254 Kgs of fish that fetched USD 280,150 during the reporting year. 3,000 rural women farmers in Nwoya district, northern Uganda are engaged in selected agricultural productivity enterprises and have gained access to 3000 acres of farmland to grow fast yielding variety fruits - Mangoes, Guava, Oranges and cereals - sorghum, millet and simsim. In Bugiri district, 290 women worked rotationally in production; 10 per week and earn a wage of USD 2.7 per day under the cage fish farming project. On average, revenue worth USD 73,000 is realized from the sale of fish from every 6 cages harvested.Disclaimer and notes
