Outcome insights and achievements
Outcome progress note for the year
Effective normative, programmatic and coordination products, services and processes:
UN Women’s project and programme management in Mali has been significantly strengthened through improvements to the monitoring and evaluation system, the use of M&E tools, and targeted training in monitoring and reporting. These measures have enhanced the quality of deliverables, transparency toward donors, and the strategic guidance of interventions. Donor reports : 18 narrative and financial reports produced in 2025 and uploaded to DAMS (semi-annual, annual and final reports), serving as strategic progress notes shared with the institutional donor and technical and financial partners. Studies : Four studies finalized and disseminated: (i) an updated gender analysis of Mali (2024) to guide advocacy and resource allocation for SDG 5; (ii) a baseline study for the establishment of the National Observatory for Agricultural Land (ONAFA) in partnership with FAO; (iii) support for the development of the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights’ Sectoral Gender Strategy and its action plan; (iv) in partnership with ESARO, drafting a scientific article on women’s participation in forest governance mechanisms and the comparative impact of their involvement versus men’s. Statistical products : A workshop to define a collaboration framework between the UN GTSE, CSLP, CPS and INSTAT aimed at harmonizing statistical production and data sharing for humanitarian and development purposes. The workshop validated a roadmap establishing a permanent collaboration framework between the National Statistical System (SSN) and the GTSE. Operational contributions included : Development and consolidation of results frameworks aligned with strategic priorities. Strengthening the project selection process through LPAC and RPAC, improving project relevance and compliance. Training sessions for IPS to reinforce local capacities in monitoring, reporting and accountability. Activity planning and evaluation support : The 2026 work plan was prepared in line with the strategic note, the 2026–2029 strategic plan and the UNSDCF; the coverage period of the strategic note and the UNSDCF has been extended to 2020–2026. The plan was developed on the new PRISM platform. Participation in three evaluations (mid-term and sectoral projects) and preparation of two management responses following the country portfolio evaluation 2020–2024 and an economic recovery project in the Mopti and Gao regions. In sum, these advances strengthen UN Women’s capacity to generate evidence, inform decision-making and report to partners.
Effective normative, programmatic and coordination products, services and processes:
Project and programme management has been improved by strengthening the monitoring system, focusing on results through the development of monitoring and evaluation tools, and training in monitoring and reporting. Knowledge products (Statistical bulletin, evaluation reports, study reports, periodic narrative reports and donor reports) - 22 reports produced for 2023: 22 reports were produced in 2023 and uploaded to the DAMS. These included 1 annual report (2022), which constituted the strategic note on progress and was shared with the institutional donor and the TFPs, 19 donor reports and 2 financial reports. - 3 study reports were written and distributed - Two statistical bulletins: Violence against girls and women in Mali and Gender and employment in Mali. Support for the development of results frameworks, support for project selection through the Local Project Assessment Committee (LPAC) and training sessions for IPS contributed to the achievement of this result. The 2023-2024 annual work plan has also been updated taking into account the results of the 2023 annual review of our strategic note, the 2022-2025 strategic plan and the results of the United Nations Development Cooperation Fund (UNSDCF). This alignment ensures the implementation of results-based projects and programmes. Three project and programme evaluations were carried out this year. The final evaluation of the Strategic Note 2020-2024 has started and the initial design report has been written.
