Outcome progress note for the year

By 2026, more people, by age group, especially the most vulnerable, including refugees and IDPs, use quality basic social services equitably and sustainably to realize their full human potential and enhance their social and economic well-being (OUTCOME 2.1/UNSCDF).

Strengthened Gender Mainstreaming in Humanitarian Action Gender mainstreaming in humanitarian action has significantly improved in Cameroon’s Humanitarian Country Team (HCT). This is evidenced by the integration of gender into key documents, such as the Humanitarian Needs Overview (HNO) and Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP) for 2024. Through a rapid gender analysis conducted for the North-West and South-West regions between October and December 2023, gender concerns were thoroughly assessed, ensuring that the needs and priorities of women and girls were adequately addressed in the humanitarian response. Additionally, the capacity of inter-sectoral teams has been strengthened on the use of gender indicators and markers , which has improved the quality and relevance of humanitarian programming. The technical review of documents produced by humanitarian actors from various clusters during the 2024 planning process further ensured that gender considerations were systematically included across all stages of response planning. UN Women’s Contributions UN Women contributed to this outcome by supporting initiatives that focus on increasing the representation of women in key positions within national and local institutions. These included legislatures, the public service, and the judiciary , while also emphasizing the inclusion of disaggregated data by sex, age, disability status, and population groups , especially in fragile , crisis , and conflict-affected settings . UN Women also worked closely with humanitarian actors to increase the percentage of women and girls as direct beneficiaries in coordinated humanitarian responses. Furthermore, UN Women supported the implementation and monitoring of National Action Plans on Women, Peace, and Security , ensuring that gender-sensitive approaches were embedded in all humanitarian interventions.

By 2026, more people, by age group, especially the most vulnerable, including refugees and IDPs, use quality basic social services equitably and sustainably to realize their full human potential and enhance their social and economic well-being (OUTCOME 2.1/UNSCDF).

During the reporting period, women and youth, including displaced and refugee populations, increasingly contributed to conflict prevention, peacebuilding and social cohesion in Cameroon . The completion of the PRONEC-REARMORCE peacebuilding project , including its sustainability and exit strategy, strengthened national and community capacities for gender-responsive peacebuilding and resilience . Youth-led initiatives , with strong participation of young women, used creativity and dialogue to restore social cohesion, promote reconciliation and rebuild trust in conflict-affected communities. Displaced persons, refugees and host communities enhanced their capacities to prevent and manage conflicts , particularly those related to natural resource and environmental management , contributing to reduced local tensions. Inclusive dialogue platforms brought together administrative, religious and traditional authorities, women traditional leaders, youth, displaced/refugee populations and host communities , helping to prevent and mitigate intergenerational conflicts and promote the meaningful participation of women and youth in local peacebuilding processes.
