    UN-Women PNG CO effectively leverages and expands its partnerships, communications and advocacy capabilities to increase support for and financing of the gender equality agenda, while securing sustainable resourcing for the delivery of its own mandate.

    During the reporting period, the Papua New Guinea Country Office (PNG CO) delivered targeted communications support for several high-profile events, significantly enhancing UN Women’s visibility and public profile in Papua New Guinea. Key events included the Regional Director’s visit to PNG in January 2025, the National Council of Women Convention in Kavieng, the Women, Peace and Security Forum in Arawa (Bougainville), the International Women’s Day commemoration in Parliament, the Women’s Political Participation Forum, the launch of the 16 Days of Activism campaign, the EVAW Day press conference, and the ReMember Walk. Implemented a multi-platform communication approach integrating storytelling, social media, audio-visuals, and radio. Produced a radio talk show on ABC Radio featuring the Women for the World of Work mural project. Shared 43 Facebook posts (109,750 reach; 33,001 views) and 26 X posts (2,472 views), spotlighting women’s leadership, EVAW Day, and 16 Days of Activism. Displayed campaign videos on digital billboards at major city intersections and Jacksons Airport to mark World AIDS Day and promote women's economic empowerment. The CO leveraged strategic partnerships with leading media outlets including EMTV, Post Courier, and ABC Radio to deliver high-impact advocacy campaigns. Communications efforts also supported donor visibility initiatives, providing media and branding support during high-level engagements such as the Embassy of Japan’s visit to Gordons Market and the Soim Wokabaut Secretariat mission to Goroka. These activities were documented and amplified through social media and visual content, aligning with broader resource mobilization objectives and donor communication priorities.

    UN-Women PNG CO effectively leverages and expands its partnerships, communications and advocacy capabilities to increase support for and financing of the gender equality agenda, while securing sustainable resourcing for the delivery of its own mandate.

    During the reporting period; Papua New Guinea Country office expanded on the existing and new partnerships and communication platforms to increase support for and financing of the gender equality and women empowerment agenda. The country office used social media especially Facebook, Television, print media and radio (Post Courier, EMTV and NBC Radio) to enhance knowledge levels about UN Women programme and achievements. Local and international events such as 16 Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence, United for Equality Summit, International Women’s Day National Women’s Day, CSO forum were widely covered ensuring UN Women visibility and increased information on national and international issues and prevention, protection and response mechanisms. The department of community development and religion leveraged on UN Women’s established relationship with media to successfully conduct the press release for 16 Days Activism and related activities including launching of 16 days of Activism banner with Prime Minister’s and National Executive Council Department and other government department. The 16 Days of Activism launch coverage in Kimbe received the highest likes, comments, sharing and viewing both on real-time.
