Number of Peacebuilding processes inclusive of young women supported by UN Women / UNFPA (CO)
By 2027, the populations of CAR live in an environment where peacebuilding, national reconciliation, and governance mechanisms are inclusive, accountable and effective
UN Women has continued its support to the peace process in CAR, including through the support to the implementation of the National Action Plan on Resolution 1325. The third NAP R1325 is under elaboration and will be finalized in 2024.
By 2027, the populations of CAR live in an environment where peacebuilding, national reconciliation, and governance mechanisms are inclusive, accountable and effective
UN Women's support has enabled the defence and security sector, including civil society organisations, to be gender-sensitive. The Ministry of Defence and the General Staff have taken active measures to advance the integration of gender in their actions, thus showing a real political will to advance the peace and security agenda by creating not only structures in charge of gender (Gender Directorate at the Ministry of Defence and Office in charge of gender at the General Staff of the Armed Forces. This gender sensitivity is now manifested by recurrent requests for capacity building for members of the defense forces during the various courses or during workshops on gender integration and peacebuilding issues, not to mention awareness-raising on the fight against gender-based violence. More concretely, UN Women's support has prompted the Ministry of Defence and the General Staff to request UN Women's expertise in the development of a gender and gender-based violence and sexual exploitation and abuse directive, a monitoring and control mechanism for the protection of female personnel in the defence and security forces. Thanks to the action of UN Women, more than 10 women's civil society organizations, 02 public institutions have seen their capacities strengthened on gender mainstreaming, the fight against gender-based violence and their roles of democratic and civil control through training and awareness-raising workshops. Finally, UN Women's action has enabled the Ministry of National Defence and the National Coordination on Security Sector Reform to have gender-sensitive strategies and policies.
