Renewed commitments for gender equality and women's empowerment (GEWE) translate into a new feminist agenda setting
6 national consultations with stakeholders led by Member States with the support of UN Women, inlcuding UN Women’s support to the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD), Government of India (GoI) in amplifying messages of Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women – taking a step forward in recognising and increasing women’s Voice, enabling access to Choice through equal ownership and control over productive resources, and access to institutional support, and Security to right to livelihood and dignity.In a collaboration with the MWCD, UN Women jointly organised 7 inter-generational webinars and 1 Facebook live Dialogue, in the lead up to IWD2021. UN Women and Gender at Work India have launched a young feminist leadership programme in India to strengthen feminist leadership and movement building, with a focus youth, particularly for public and policy advocacy at the grassroots to global policymaking fora. UN Women has partnered with Gender at Work on feminist agenda setting to support women and young changemakers to bring a robust feminist perspective to development practice. UN Women provided support to the action coaltion leaders, youth activists and youth-led organisations, movements, partners, and allies to organise and participate in advocacy before, during, and after the GEF in Paris. The National Gender Youth Activists, and youth Co-leads of the Action Coalitions, in consultation with youth activists and networks from across the globe, saw a crucial need to strengthen youth movements and advance youth-led collective advocacy prior to, during and after the GEF process. UN Women supported the Youth Accelerator Sessions organised by regional office.
Renewed commitments for gender equality and women's empowerment (GEWE) translate into a new feminist agenda setting
UN Women is the Technical Knowledge Partner to MWCD for G20 EMPOWER, Ministerial Conference for Women’s Empowerment. UN Women is providing technical knowledge support to MWCD for W20 and also providing gender mainstreaming support to Sherpa’s office under India’s G20 Presidency. UN Women served as Primary Knowledge Partners for Sectoral Group of Secretaries (SGoS) MWCD vision towards 2023, 2030 and 2047. Towards the 2023 and 2030 agenda, achieving SDG 5 was prioritized under the four priority areas of education, health and nutrition, economic empowerment and socio legal empowerment.
