The Office actively participated in all technical and high level bodies and working groups, provided expertize and contributed to change in legislation: Organic Budget Lin line . During the reporting year, some progress was made in aligning the Criminal Code of North Macedonia with the standards of the Istanbul Convention. The Code passed the first and second reading in Parliamentary procedure, and it is now pending approval in plenary. The amendments of the Criminal Code were drafted with UN Women and partner CSOs support, and they foresee a first time definition of Gender Based Violence against women, gender sensitive terminology; criminalize femicide, sexual assault, sexual harassment, female genital mutilation and stalking; and updates the definition of rap Support provided to the new National Gender Strategy. GRB Resource Center opened. Strategic responce for government action documents on alignment with EU Gender Acquis provided for 10 different areas.
Effective normative, programmatic and coordination products, services and processes
The Office provided normative support and technical expertize to the Government in several fields, namely: amendments to the Criminal Code (elaboarted in the DRF part), support on anti-corruption with gender lenses, improved gender data collection and similar, resulting in different programatic results achieved, visibility increased and recognition by the partners. Delivery of core was 100% while above 95% for non-core funds. Successful RM efforts secured new funds (October 2023-MArch 2027. Procurement, admin, finance, and delivery are being monitored and verified regularly. The Office established Operations Unit (Operations Associate, 2 Admin Assistants, Finance Assistant and Operatuions Assistant) to ensure maximum efficency, following UN Women policies, rules and regulations.
