Women have access and are served by humanitarian responses and recovery processes in Yemen
In 2022, 12,014 Yemeni women accessed humanitarian response and recovery services provided by UN Women. Specifically, 11,121 women and girls GBV survivors accessed psychosocial support, protection and legal services, including through a dedicated hotline and referral systems. Two (2) women’s centers in Aden and Taiz are now providing enhanced GBV, protection and childcare services to vulnerable women, and apply minimum standard requirements. UN Women rehabilitated and expanded the women’s centers which are now well equipped and able to provide a comprehensive set of protection services - including legal aid, case management, counselling, awareness raising, health care and childcare services - to a significantly wider number of women and girls GBV survivors and/or at risk of GBV (presently attending 300 beneficiaries per month compared to the previous 70 monthly beneficiaries).Furthermore, 107 service providers in Aden and Taiz enhanced their knowledge and skills on gender responsive and operational standard-based psycho-social support for GBV survivors and women and girls at risk of GBV which led to enhanced high-quality service provision. Additionally, 893 women accessed economic empowerment support in the form of resources (small grants), information and capacity building, goods, and services, through UN Women-supported projects. UN organizations, government agencies and civil society representatives also increased their knowledge and understanding of issues related to the protection and promotion of women and girls’ rights through their active engagement in advocacy and coordination efforts led by UN Women.

Women received humanitarian and recovery support through different activites and projects implemented by civil society organisations and partners. This includes providing technical and legal support services, capacity building and insitutional building. A highly functional support network is now operational and provides access to protection mechanisms and services to vulnerable women in Al-Mukalla, Hadramout. GBV survivors are able to access protection services. women and girls GBV survivors accessed psychosocial support and GBV services. Survivors of violence able to access support through hotline services. stakeholders are aware of GBV risks and the gendered impact of the COVID-19 crisis. Women centers in Hudaidah, Aden and Hadramaut are now able to provide a comprehensive set of services including legal aid, case management, counselling, awareness raising, health care and childcare services to the women in need. staff of the centers possess enhanced knowledge and skills on GBV management. GBV survivors benefitted from referral services and have now access to mechanisms implemented by government authorities, INGOs and NGOs. women’s center in Hudaidah is now providing enhanced GBV, protection and childcare services to vulnerable women, and applies minimum standard requirements. Women in high-risk situations accessed new sources of income and economic opportunities through targeted cash-based interventions and the development of professional capacities and skills. marginalized and vulnerable women have increased skills and capacity for income generation. Yemeni Women are able to break the violence circle and own economic independence and being able to support their families in particular women house holds.
