    Summary of country programme

UN Women in the Solomon Islands delivers four large projects underpinned by support for coordination and normative processes. UN Women’s Access to Justice (A2J) Project works towards the achievement of environmental justice through gender-responsive legislation reform, empowerment, advocacy, and capacity building of grassroots women, including leaders and human rights defenders. In Ending Violence against Women, UN Women reaches into all provinces in the Solomon Islands to strengthen access to quality response services for survivors through the Pacific Partnership to End VAWG. The Markets for Change Project continues into its sixth year of implementation on women’s economic empowerment. In the area of Disaster Risk Reduction, the Gender Inequality of Risk (GIR) Project phased out in 2021 and is replaced by the Women’s Resilience to Disasters (WRD) Project which provides a comprehensive package to strengthen the resilience of women and girls to ensure that their lives and livelihoods are resilient to disasters and threats, contributing to sustainable, secure, and thriving communities.
