Increased UN coherence and accountability on GEEW

In 2021 UN Women Argentina leveraged its UN coordination mandate through its participation in almost all interagency mechanisms despite being a small office. Most importantly, t he Country Office co-leads with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the High Commissioner for Human Rights (UNHCHR) the Interagency Thematic Gender and Human Rights Group and through its work, both the “Joint Analysis of the United Nations System 2021: The Effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic in Argentina” (CCA 2021) and the Implementation Plan of the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF, 2020-2025), successfully integrated the gender perspective. Furthermore, the Gender Thematic Group elaborated a work plan in 2021 for the first time and made the first steps towards the strengthening of capacities of the staff of the United Nations System in Argentina in Human Rights and Gender approaches. Also, for the first time since the opening of the UN Women office in Argentina, the Country Office led the UNETE Campaign with important results. Finally, UN Women Argentina accompanied the efforts for the implementation, monitoring and/or reporting on the SDGs made by the Resident Coordinator’s Office. In particular, the CO was especially invited to integrate an Inter-agency mission to the Province of Tierra del Fuego with the National Council for the Coordination of Social Policies, Institution that coordinates the national and subnational implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) in the country.
