    Outcome insights and achievements

Outcome progress note for the year

Enhanced coordination, coherence and accountability of the UN system for commitments to gender equality and women´s empowerment

UN Women supported the RC efforts on the elaboration of the UNSDCF 2020-2025 biannual work plans 2020-2021 for the four results groups, also UN Women is leader for the results group 1 Equity and Inclusion and the plan includes products (outcomes), sub-products (outputs) and indicators. This year, jointly with the office of the resident coordinator, the mid-term review of the SWAP was carried out with the analysis of all its indicators and the updating of six indicators. The results of the evaluation were reflected in the annual report on the SWAP platform.

Enhanced coordination, coherence and accountability of the UN system for commitments to gender equality and women´s empowerment

CO constantly works in coordination groups within the UN system. The GTG (Gender Thematic Group) is co-chaired by UN Women and UNFPA, together with the support of the Resident coordinator office. Coordination and planification of the work of the GTG is constantly reinforced by different mechanisms like trainings, advocacy campaigns coordinated with the COMMGROUP and with the collaboration of the development of different intergovernmental reports like CEDAW and UPR (Universal Periodic Review). The GTG seeks to coordinate efforts to achieve gender equality within the system in Mexico by an established and approved work-plan. A pool funding for the GTG was consolidated on 2023, UN Women will administrate the funds. We received a total of 32,000 USD in resources with the contribution of the following agencies: UNICEF, UNFPA, UNHCR, UNOPS, UN Women, UN Habitat, UNDP. On 2024 we are expecting more agencies to contribute. The GTG coordinates efforts with all UN agencies to develop the UNCT SWAP Gender Scorecard report. On 2023 five indicators were reported that demonstrated the need to enhance gender equality within the UN system in Mexico. A set of commitments were adopted at the last UN programmatic forum in order to achieve improvements for the next UNCT SWAP report. For 2024, the GTG is working on different tools to use to recover inputs from all agencies in order to measure the progress of UN system in Mexico and to increase funding for gender equality programs.

Enhanced coordination, coherence and accountability of the UN system for commitments to gender equality and women´s empowerment

The CO participated in a joint interagency effort to develop a series of proposals, within the Framework of Cooperation, for the administration of President Claudia Sheinbaum. In this regard, the CO led the consolidation of the proposals related to care work and gender

Enhanced coordination, coherence and accountability of the UN system for commitments to gender equality and women´s empowerment

UN Women strenghtened the coordination with UN agencies by exchanging information on events, programs and different activities related to gender equality. The Country Office coordinated with the Swedish Embassy a workshop on positive masculinities that had the participation of three United Nations Reprsentatives and UN Staff. UN Women contributed to enhance communication skills for members of the UNCT inter-agency gender group, with an exclusive training session with a consultant and expert in public communication. This year, UN Women successfully participated in the Programmatic forum, presenting the results and challenges of the interagency group.
