Effective normative, programmatic and coordination products, services, and processes
UN Women Myanmar continued to strengthen its strategic planning and management practices to support effective delivery in a complex operating environment. During the reporting period, the Country Office focused on streamlining internal workflows and strengthening coordination through the deployment of key international personnel in-country and the establishment of a Leadership Team that brings together decision-makers across programmes and locations to support timely and strategic decision-making. The deployment of two international personnel—marking the first issuance of visas since the 2021 military takeover—significantly strengthened Country Office performance. The in-country presence of the Operations Manager enhanced collaboration between programme and operations teams, contributing to improved delivery and compliance through regular, solution-focused coordination. In parallel, the presence of the Humanitarian Lead strengthened UN Women’s visibility in the humanitarian space and opened new opportunities for inter-agency collaboration and resource mobilization. In addition, the Country Office engaged with the Regional Office to initiate the process of extending the Strategic Note to the end of 2026, in alignment with the UN Country Team decision to extend the current Transitional Cooperation Framework by one year. This process is expected to be finalized in early Q3, ahead of the 2026 annual work planning cycle, ensuring continued alignment between strategic direction and operational planning.
Effective normative, programmatic and coordination products, services, and processes
UN Women Myanmar has continued strong strategic planning, monitoring, reporting and evaluation practices. It has finalized its strategic note for 2024-2025 in line with UN Transitional Cooperation Framework (UNTCF) in Myanmar. The UN Transitional Cooperation Framework (UN TCF) 2024-2025 was also finalized and approved by the UN Country Team (UNCT). During the 4-day staff retreat in Chiang Mai from January 22-25, 2024, a comprehensive overview of the TCF, SN 2024-2025, and BWP 2024-2025 was shared to ensure a clear understanding of strategic direction and implementation plans. The first bi-annual reporting for UNTCF 2024-2025 and separately for Outcome 4 was also submitted for the period of Q1-Q2, 2024 .
