For this purpose it uses gross national income (GNI) per capita data in U.S. dollars, converted from local currency using the World Bank Atlas method, which is applied to smooth exchange rate fluctuations. i-icon Least Developed Country:Yes Since 1971, the United Nations has recognized LDCs as a category of States that are deemed highly disadvantaged in their development process, for structural, historical and also geographical reasons. Three criteria are used: per capita income, human assets, and economic vulnerability. i-icon Gender Inequality Index:0.575 GII is a composite metric of gender inequality using three dimensions: reproductive health, empowerment and the labour market. The prison and judicial sector has operational capacities facilitating better coordination of the COVID-19 response

The office supports the prison and justice sector in providing quality essential services to women prisoners including their offspring. This includes strengthening the health structure in prisons and providing better knowledge and capacity to prison authorities to relieve prison congestion. For the strengthening of the prison and judicial system in relation to COVID, the first support of the office aimed to limit the spread of the virus through the provision of hygiene and handwashing equipment to the Directorate of the Penitentiary Administration (DAP) for prevention against COVID. Other support interventions targeted the decongestion of prisons by strengthening the capacities of local organizations IMED in the provision of legal aid services to inmates and PESADEV for psychosocial and economic support to released prisoners. Among other things, activities for the reintegration of minors in conflict with the law who were in the CERMICOL centre have been carried out, 27 women in PPD have been released and receive psychosocial assistance; support materialized through the provision of a package of essential services consisting of immediate health care and psychosocial support.
