UN Women Pakistan works with a diverse range of partners to ensure that women and girls benefit from an enabling environment where they are empowered and reach their fullest potential; and one in which their fundamental, social, economic, cultural, and political rights are fully protected and upheld. Keeping in view the country’s national priorities, international commitments, and UN Women’s three-pillar mandate, this is done through a strategic focus on five key areas, which include: 1) Normative Frameworks and Data, 2) Innovative Gender Financing, 3) Protection Against Harmful Practices, 4) Awareness, Voice, Agency, and Leadership, and 5) Women’s Economic Empowerment. A fine balance between upstream work - to build institutions that cater to the needs of women and girls - and downstream work – that strengthens harassment-free, peaceful and resilient communities, and creates demand and awareness – ensures that UN Women Pakistan takes a multi-tiered and comprehensive approach to empower women and girls in the country.
