UN Women’s  Regional Office for Latin American and the Caribbean Strategic Note 2023–2025 addresses deepening gender inequalities in the region exacerbated by COVID-19 and climate change. It sets forth a regional vision to advance gender equality and women’s empowerment as the foundation of inclusive and sustainable development, with a strong presence in vulnerable regions such as Central America.

The programme focuses on peacebuilding, economic inclusion, climate resilience and gender-responsive governance. Key approaches include intersectionality and leaving no one behind. The programme emphasizes women’s agency, institutional strengthening and innovative financing for gender equality. Through joint programming and gender statistics, the programme strengthens policies, supports women peacebuilders and scales up evidence-based, transformative gender equality initiatives.

Collaboration with national ministries, civil society organizations and international partners enhances programme reach. Strategic Note direct funding from the Government of Sweden increases strategic flexibility and deepens impact.
