In line with the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework 2022–2026, UN Women’s Bangladesh Strategic Note (2022–2026) defines the organizational strategy for the country office in Dhaka and a suboffice in Cox’s Bazar responding to the Rohingya humanitarian crisis.
The country strategy focuses on strengthening national structures and mechanisms for mainstreaming gender equality and women’s empowerment; advancing women’s leadership in public life; ending violence against women; accelerating women’s access to decent and safe work; resilience-building amid climate change and humanitarian crisis; and women’s leadership in peacebuilding.
UN Women works with a range of stakeholders in Bangladesh, including the Government, civil society and women’s rights/women-led organizations, organizations of persons with disabilities, youth groups, UN sister entities and development partners. Funding for the Strategic Note, supported by the Government of Sweden, supports gender-responsive governance, initiatives addressing climate change and disaster risk reduction, and the Rohingya response, and enhances operational effectiveness and efficiency.
