UN Women’s China Strategic Note 2021–2025 promotes gender equality and women’s empowerment in line with the entity’s triple mandate, national development priorities and the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework 2021–2025. The programme supports transformative change through policy influence, strategic partnerships and targeted programming.
The programme prioritizes women’s economic empowerment, gender-responsive governance, ending violence against women, and global partnerships and sustainable financing for gender equality. Interventions focus on the most vulnerable women, including those in rural areas, living with disabilities and living with HIV. Strategies include capacity development and integrated programming to shift social norms and institutional practices.
UN Women collaborates with civil society, the Government, academia, media, the private sector, other UN entities and development partners. Partnerships with national and subnational authorities foster local ownership and sustainability. The office supports South-South cooperation with China towards accelerating progress on the Sustainable Development Goals and Beijing Platform for Action.
