Summary of country programme

UN Women’s Colombia Strategic Note 2025–2028 responds to persistent gender inequalities in 20 departments and over 100 municipalities, including Cauca, Nariño and Chocó.

The programme focuses on conflict resolution and peacebuilding, humanitarian responses, women’s economic empowerment, environmental justice, the prevention and eradication of gender-based violence, and gender-responsive data and governance. Key approaches include a territorial strategy prioritizing intersectionality, work with the most vulnerable women to leave no one behind, and an emphasis on women’s agency and institutional strengthening.

Collaboration with national and local public entities, civil society organizations, other UN entities and donor partners (e.g., the governments of Canada, Norway and Sweden) enhances programmatic reach. Strategic Note direct funding provided by the Government of Sweden enables strategic flexibility and deeper impact. The Strategic Note builds on joint programmes and a gender statistics strategy, among other initiatives, to strengthen policies, support women peacebuilders, and scale up evidence-based initiatives.
