UN Women’s El Salvador Strategic Note 2022–2026 outlines a programmatic vision to advance gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls based on responding to persistent structural inequalities. It maps strategic interventions in governance, economic rights, violence prevention and crisis response.
The programme prioritizes women’s leadership, economic empowerment, ending violence against women and participation in peacebuilding. In urban and rural areas, it focuses on marginalized groups, including Indigenous women, women living with HIV and those living in poverty.
Strong partnerships drive implementation, including with government institutions, civil society, the private sector, and UN entities such as the UN Development Programme and UN Children’s Fund. The Strategic Note is aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework and supported by direct funding, which enhances impacts through coordinated resource mobilization and gender-responsive planning.
