Summary of country programme

UN Women’s Fiji Multi-Country Office Strategic Note 2023–2027 is aligned with the UN Pacific Framework and 2050 Blue Pacific Strategy. It drives gender equality and women’s empowerment efforts across 14 Pacific island countries and territories, including through programme presences in Fiji, Kiribati, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga and Vanuatu.

The Strategic Note steers action on governance and women’s leadership, economic empowerment, ending violence against women and girls, resilience to disasters and climate change, normative advances and UN coordination to realize gender equality.

Major partnerships with government ministries (e.g., national gender machineries, line ministries and national disaster management offices), regional organizations (e.g., the Pacific Community, Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat and South Pacific Regional Environmental Programme), civil society organizations and UN entities enhance programme effectiveness. Expected outcomes include improved gender-responsive policies, increased women's leadership, economic empowerment, freedom from violence, resilience to crises and strengthened UN coordination on gender.
