UN Women’s Kenya Strategic Note 2023–2026 aims at gender equality and women's empowerment across the country’s diverse regions. The programme seeks to address entrenched inequalities, climate change impacts and economic challenges exacerbated by COVID-19.
UN Women prioritizes inclusive governance and gender-responsive peace and security, women’s economic empowerment and combating violence against women and girls. Activities take place in 17 counties in arid and semi-arid environments and in urban informal settlements. Approaches include policy advocacy, capacity-strengthening and community-based interventions.
Major partners comprise local government bodies, bilateral donors, international organizations, the private sector, civil society groups and women’s rights organizations. Collaborations with the State Department for Gender and Affirmative Action and UN entities enhance programme effectiveness. Expected outcomes comprise improved gender-transformative laws and policies, increased women's leadership and reduced gender-based violence. Strategic Note direct funding supports capacity-building and policy implementation.
