More women increase their access to opportunities for the generation of more stable income and sustainable livelihoods.
In 2024, 19 new signatories companies joined the WEPs community from Argentina, reaching a number of 283 WEPs signatories in 2024 that committed themselves to promote gender equality as an integral policy alongside companies' operations. Besides, 2 new companies (BSG and Mondelez) joined as members the Unstereotype Alliance (UA) National Chapter in 2024. In the framework of the Womek Project, 91% of the indigenous and rural women from three provinces of the Gran Chaco Region (Chaco, Formosa and Salta) reported that they perceived an increase of sales due to the support received through project implementation. Moreover, 93% of the surveyed women reported that they could maintain their business open today. 76.1% of women used virtual wallets as a financial tool, reflecting a broad adoption of technology within the program. This data is relevant because it shows how training in digital and financial tools allowed participants to access more modern and efficient systems for managing their income and payments. Through the Womek project, 471 women implemented 40 business plans with USD 2.500 grants with support from UN Women and 10 cooperatives and associations, linked to value chains such as handicrafts, carob production, small-scale goat farming, agroforestry, and sewing, accessed USD 10,000 in funding and implemented business plans to collaboratively improve their ventures, benefiting more than 150 other women. Finally, 3 women leaders from these groups were elected to the governing board of their broader community, reaching a crucial role in the management and control of land resources. Another important outcome achieved in 2024 in the province of Buenos Aires, is that 73 young women from the Municipality of Ezeiza acceded to educational and employment opportunities through the "Girls with Future" project implemented by UN Women in partnership with the SES Foundation. More women increase their access to opportunities for the generation of more stable income and sustainable livelihoods.
More women now have improved access to multiple opportunities for decent work, leadership roles in strategic sectors, and inclusive workplace environments as a result of the progress achieved under this outcome. During 2025, nine companies from multiple sectors advanced gender equality and non-discriminatory practices in the workplace and across their value chains and are now better positioned to contribute to improving women’s access to decent work, leadership opportunities, and non-discriminatory work environments. This institutional progress also strengthens organizational cultures that challenge harmful gender stereotypes. Four companies achieved this through their formal adherence to the Women’s Empowerment Principles, and five companies by joining the Unstereotype Alliance (UA) Argentina Chapter. One company in the mining sector from the province of Salta obtained the Sello de Espacios Igualitarios y Libres de Violencia (SEI) certification and is now committed, as a private-sector actor, to aligning integrity, sustainability, and gender equality as core business priorities. APEX, a member of the Unstereotype Alliance (UA) Argentina and a leading provider of digital services in Latin America , received formal recognition from the Secretariat for Women of the Province of Córdoba for its commitment to promoting equitable and violence-free workplaces . This acknowledgment demonstrates how UA principles are being embedded into concrete corporate practices and gaining public visibility with the support of UN Women . In the province of Chaco, 40 women strengthened their skills through a dry-construction training program in the construction sector, a strategic and traditionally male-dominated field. This training was delivered as the result of a multisectoral initiative promoted in recent years in collaboration with academia, the private sector and UN Women. In the province of Cordoba, more women increased their access to digital training opportunities that support the generation of more stable income, particularly in software-related and other digital services subsectors, as 219 additional participants benefited from the local replication modules promoted by the UN Women–Nokia Global Programme. This expansion was made possible through the technical and logistical support of the Women’s Secretariat and several municipalities (Córdoba Capital, La Falda, Chañar Viejo, Villa del Totoral , Las Varillas, Colonia Vignaud , and Despeñaderos ) that worked jointly with UN Women. The designed model implemented a sustainable local multiplier effect, with additional replications planned for 2026. https://www.weps.org/companies https://lac.unwomen.org/es/stories/noticia/2025/10/unstereotype-alliance-summit-latam-2025-argentina-fue-sede-del-primer-foro-regional https://www.salta.gob.ar/prensa/noticias/se-realizo-el-lanzamiento-del-sello-sei-2025-para-empresas-proveedoras-y-contratistas-mineras-100536 https://mujeresydiversidad.salta.gob.ar/category/sello-sei/ https://www.facebook.com/secdelamujercba/posts/-desde-la-secretar%C3%ADa-de-la-mujer-junto-a-espacio-mujeres-tec-hicimos-entrega-de-/1299246605572932/ https://medios.unne.edu.ar/2025/10/17/mas-de-70-mujeres-se-graduaron-de-los-cursos-de-oficios-de-la… https://prensa.cba.gov.ar/informacion-general/mas-de-60-cordobesas-egresaron-del-programa-conectadas-al-futuro/
More women increase their access to opportunities for the generation of more stable income and sustainable livelihoods.
Indigenous and Creole women asociations from the Gran Chaco territory improved their digital skills and their access to financing, with the support of ONU Mujeres. This improvement will contribute to the scaling of businesses in the territory and therefore to the economic autonomy of each of them and their associative structures. In these areas, the weak presence of the State is reflected in poor access to quality health and education, as well as electricity, gas and sewage services, and inadequate infrastructure (including health care services), connectivity and water collection and distribution. Women represent half of the population (50.8%), but hardly participate in decision-making.The needs of the territory and its development possibilities are disseminated through advocacy and communication strategies of the Womek project and the collection of life stories and impact of the training. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Kt_zukkUV1CbdWgJdry0mNvF-l-DO3Cm/edit#gid=2011359638 y https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1CNf68X5bj_bQ_eBmdWmawAWgXKY-AusxDISZEqXqFwg/edit#gid=0 During 2023, 20 companies signed the WEPs, making 256 signatories in total in Argentina. The project of Unstereotype Alliance in Argentina was also a platform to attract new WEPs signatories and to provide companies with a concrete possibility to add value in their value chain. In its second year of life Unstereotype Alliance in Argentina strehnghened a network integrated by private sector key actors taking collective action to avoid harmful stereotypes in the advertising industry. Members of Unstereotype Alliance include Unilever, Avon, Alurralde Jasper, SAP, Globant, Mastercard and Mondelez. Cámara Argentina de Anunciantes (CAA) and Mujeres en Publicidad (MEP) are strategic allies. https://dossiernet.com/articulo/la-alianza-sin-estereotipos-y-onu-mujeres-presentaron-un-diagnostico-sobre-la-situacin-actual-de-las-publicidades-en-argentina/33048 https://www.clarin.com/opinion/Cambiar-cambie_0_H1hxFJfjDQg.html
