UN Women in Chile has made important contributions to significant advances in the institutionalization of the gender perspective, in particular by strengthening the legal framework, adopting public policies focused on equality, and increasing public spending on gender equality. During 2025, a network of laws, plans, and multisectoral strategies will be consolidated , such as the National Equality Plan, the Plan against Gender Violence, the “More Women on Boards” Law, and the development of gender-responsive budgets. These initiatives seek to gradually change institutional behavior , promoting greater state co-responsibility, women's participation in decision-making, and a greater capacity to address structural inequalities. In this regard, UN Women collaborated with civil society organizations that promoted the “More Women on Boards” Law, through participation in seminars, the preparation of technical notes, and the drafting of articles based on international law standards. In terms of public policy, UN Women participates in technical roundtables to monitor the National Equality Plan and the National Plan against Gender Violence. In terms of the budget, together with ECLAC, it collaborates with the Ministry of Finance and the Budget Office on the gender budgeting methodology , which has shown that Chile's state budget for gender-responsive public policies exceeds 20%. In the economic and labor spheres, although there has been a slight reduction in informality, significant gaps remain that disproportionately affect women, especially in highly feminized and precarious sectors. In this regard, UN Women has systematically supported the government in the design of the National Care System, providing technical assistance on costs, public opinion, and legislative discussion. In terms of political and institutional participation, there has been partial progress in female representation, especially in the judiciary and parliament, although vertical gaps persist in senior positions. In this regard, 2025 was a year of parliamentary and presidential elections, and one of the factors that became apparent was excessive political violence against women in the digital space. UN Women conducted monthly monitoring that allowed for visualization and awareness-raising on this issue.
