Assuring an accountable organization through principled performance: UN-Women is an accountable and trustworthy development organization that manages its financial and other resources with integrity and in line with its programmatic ambitions and fiduciary obligations.
In 2024, following the currency in March, ECO focused its efforts in adjusting its programming budgets to off-set the impact of the devaluation. Such efforts included shifting funds within programmes to focus on more activities that focus on supporting beneficiaries’ access to assets and microfinances, closing purchase orders and re-opening them to release funds that were “trapped” against the older exchange rate, and in some cases negotiate no costed extensions with donors, to allow more time to expend the now larger funds in the local currency.

The primary efforts of the ECO in 2023 to this end was the heavy lift of adapting and learning the new ERF system, during two regional crises (Sudan and Gaza) and with a heavy programme cycle overall
