World Bank Income Classification:Low Income
The World Bank classifies economies for analytical purposes into four income groups: low, lower-middle, upper-middle, and high income. For this purpose it uses gross national income (GNI) per capita data in U.S. dollars, converted from local currency using the World Bank Atlas method, which is applied to smooth exchange rate fluctuations.

The UN will support the Government, in an integrated matter, to enhance citizen participation and strengthen the peace-building, reconciliation and inclusive mechanisms to pre-empt and address conflict and its causes, sustain peace and enhance social cohesion; strengthen capacities of national and sub-national actors to develop, amend and implement legislation and policies in compliance with human rights standards; enhance public trust and confidence in justice, security and rule of law institutions at national and subnational levels; and promote better knowledge and capacity of relevant government authorities and security and justice institutions at national and subnational levels to enhance access to justice, including for vulnerable groups, children in conflict with the law, women and girl survivors of SGBV, migrants, victim of trafficking, and especially those facing multiple and intersecting forms of discrimination

In 2023, the Government of Liberia continued its efforts towards the achievement of a gender-sensitive service delivery including the provision of equitable and effective justice and security services. As a result, a Gender Policy and a five-year Implementation Plan for the Bureau of Corrections and Rehabilitation (BCR) at the Ministry of Justice was developed. This policy was validated by a wide range of stakeholders including Civil Society, women's rights advocates, and experts from the Ministry of Gender Children, and Social Protection and provides the framework for mainstreaming gender in the BCR. This was done with the technical and financial support of UN Women. The High Command of the Armed Forces of Liberia has revoked its policy that barred unmarried female soldiers from getting pregnant. This action is a result of continuous advocacy and engagement of the Gender and Social Inclusion Department (GSID) of the force relying on the Gender Policy as a reference. This latest move demonstrates the enhanced capacity of the Department to ensure full implementation of the policy. Meanwhile, the GSID continues to roll out awareness sessions amongst the ranks and files of the Force on the procedures for reporting harassment.Disclaimer and notes
