Effective normative, programmatic and coordination products, services and processes
UN Women Malawi has made measurable progress in strengthening organizational effectiveness and efficiency by improving the quality of delivery, consistency of approaches, and internal systems that support results. Enhanced planning, monitoring, and learning practices have strengthened programme performance and accountability, ensuring that evidence from implementation and evaluations is systematically used to improve decision-making and programme adaptation. Operational efficiency has been further enhanced through the institutionalization of standardized programmatic approaches across portfolios. By applying proven models and harmonized tools, the Country Office has reduced fragmentation, improved coherence, and optimized the use of human and financial resources, enabling faster delivery and greater scalability of results. This has also strengthened collaboration with partners by providing clear, predictable frameworks for engagement. In parallel, the office has advanced digital and innovative ways of working to streamline programme delivery and coordination. The integration of technology into implementation, monitoring, and capacity development has reduced transaction costs, improved timeliness, and expanded reach, particularly in remote and underserved areas. Collectively, these improvements have strengthened UN Women Malawi’s ability to deliver high-quality, efficient, and responsive support to national partners while maximizing the impact of available resources.
Effective normative, programmatic and coordination products, services and processes
During the reporting period, the UN Women Malawi Country Office strengthened its programmatic operations by adopting digital innovations, particularly the Kobo Toolbox, which enabled the collection of real-time data for the Women’s Resilience to Disasters (WRD) project. Additionally, Learning Management System (LMS) was utilized to manage data for the Malawi Girls Can Code (MGCC) project. While no evaluations were conducted during this period, the recruitment process for consultants to carry out the WRD project evaluation and the MGCC project baseline evaluation has begun. It was also noted that some recommendations from prior evaluations were specific to individual projects, such as the Spotlight Initiative, and are no longer applicable as those projects have concluded. As a result, there remain 20 outstanding actions from past evaluations. With non-core funding directed towards projects aligned with the strategic note, along with sufficient human resources and strong partnerships, the UN Women Malawi Country Office made significant progress in achieving its Strategic Note (SN) output indicators, with 11 out of 13 indicators reported as either on track or fully achieved.
