Improved alignment of policies and strategies with national and international gender commitments, including the GEWE Act 2022 and CEDAW, was supported through joint programming, technical assistance and coordinated advocacy. Functional multi-stakeholder coordination and accountability mechanisms enhanced collective planning, implementation and monitoring of gender-responsive interventions. These efforts contributed to measurable progress in institutional capacity, partnership effectiveness and accountability for gender equality results. Government institutions, civil society organisations and private sector actors demonstrated increased capacity to implement and monitor gender-responsive policies and programmes, while joint initiatives expanded women’s participation, leadership and access to opportunities. Overall, coherent UN system support and multi-stakeholder collaboration advanced sustainable progress toward gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls in Sierra Leone.
