SP OEE Outcome Area 2: Promotion of partnerships and resources; effectively influencing impact and scale: UN Women effectively leverages and expands its partnerships, communications, and advocacy capacities to increase support and funding for the gender equality program, while ensuring sustainable resources for the fulfillment of its own mandate
During 2023, the Country Office continued to promote dialogue spaces among different key actors and establish joint coordination strategies between UN agencies and other actors in international cooperation.
Notable progress was made in the accession of companies to the Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPS). In 2023, the office established two new Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with CAMTEX and FOSOFAMILIA, totaling 13. Processes have been initiated to establish partnerships with ABANSA, ASAFINTECH, and ASA, which will be finalized in the first quarter of 2024.
The Country Office updated the resource mobilization strategy and developed several project proposals with NDI, Second Chance Education, ACCESO, USAID, building on initiatives already implemented and expected to yield results in 2024. In collaboration with Fundación Calleja, the office designed a campaign on a culture of peace and gender coexistence, impacting its 7,000 employees. This process will be systematized by the office for possible replication with other companies.
Through its social media networks, the Country Office has reached over 5,537 followers on Twitter, achieving 18.4 thousand impressions, an 88.4% increase. On Facebook, the reach increased by 2.9% (96,187), and visits by 135.6% (21,085). Additionally, in 2023, it garnered 31 mentions in press, radio, and TV. The office published ten articles on the website, mostly related to activities, especially those carried out in collaboration with key partners.
SP OEE Outcome Area 5: Effective normative, programmatic and coordination products, services, and processes
The Country Office (OC) has a professional and committed team that supports normative, programmatic, and coordination processes. Weekly meetings are conducted with program teams, and bi-weekly meetings involve both operations and program teams to provide continuous monitoring of ongoing actions. Efficient leadership was demonstrated in the interagency gender group, yielding the following results: 1. Implementation of the 2023 Action Plan of the Gender Results Group, monitoring progress in four strategic areas of the Cooperation Framework, Gender Scorecard reporting, and coordination of interagency activities to promote equality and empowerment, including joint positions, commemorative dates, and an annual townhall. Interagency awareness activities were carried out on commemorative dates such as March 8th and November 25th, reaching the general population in public spaces. 2. In coordination with the RCO, led the preparation of the Annual Report of the UNCT SWAP Gender Scorecard 2023. This involved reviewing and identifying the 5 indicators that were reported.
SP OEE Outcome Area 4: Nurturing an empowered workforce and advancing an inclusive UN-Women culture: With its unique and inclusive culture, UN-Women is an employer of choice with a diverse and highly performing cadre of personnel that embodies UN values.
The country office in El Salvador, during 2023, continued to develop actions to fulfill the commitments to advance in an inclusive organizational culture and high commitment to the principles and values of the UN.
