By 2025, gender equality and human rights of people in Uganda are promoted, protected, and fulfilled in a culturally responsive environment.
The situation of women's rights has not changed much since last year. Gender based violence is still high, but the country is awaiting the Uganda Demographic and Health Survey report to get a more accurate information in this. However, public trust in the justice system is improving. In 2023, public trust in the justice system stood at 69% according to data collected from the SEMA pilot program located at 50 frontline JLOS service points (JLOS annual report, 2022/23). This presents a 7-percentage point increase from the 62% reported in 2022.
The delivery rate for Regular Resources as at Jan 25, 2024 was at 74.67% while for None core was at 62% and 100% for actual delivery and Overall utilisation respectively. For Regular Resources, there are payrolll costs worth US$ 444,000 not yet posted to the GL. Once this is posted the delivery for RR will be at 100%.
UN Women Uganda received USD 11,764,255 from public partners and USD 250,192 from the private sector. UN Women Uganda developed 4 partnerships to support UN-Women’s mission including in promoting Responsible Business Practices and Influencing and/or Knowledge sharing. Two partnerships signed with the East Africa Business Council (EABC) and the Private Sector Foundation of Uganda (PSFU) were primarily for promoting ethical business practices. The other two with partnerships, with Uganda Bureau of Statistics and Economic Policy Research Centre were for influencing/knowledge sharing.
The average time it takes to complete recruitment is 12 weeks (from the time the announcement closes until the candidate is notified). This reduced from the average time of 16 weeks registered in 2022. 59%. Currently, the CO has 32 staff (both national and international). Out of this, 19 are female while 13 are male. 100% of staff have completed their mandatory training. In 2023, two staff had the opportunity to work in other regions, hence gaining new experiences, learning and sharing knowledge.
