Outcome progress note for the year

Assuring an accountable organization through principled performance

The mobilization of resources by the Argentina office faced a complex global and national context throughout 2025. UN Women’s donor portfolio in the country was significantly reduced following the closure of projects that could not be renewed, which led to a decrease in staff from 18 people (including consultants) to 13 by the end of the year, placing additional pressure on the team. In November, it was announced that the Officer-in-Charge appointed in December 2023 would return to Uruguay, and that as of 2026 this role would be assumed by the Country Programme Coordinator in Argentina. Additionally, the finance associate from Uruguay who had been providing support ceased to do so, and the finance and operations team in Argentina will now provide support to the Uruguay office—resulting in a greater workload for the local staff. Given this scenario, the office implemented measures to optimize resources, including renegotiating the lease agreement at UN House—which will allow for a significant reduction in costs—and applying spending restrictions and adjusted planning to ensure operational continuity. These actions reflect the office’s ability to adapt in order to maintain responsible performance aligned with the principles of efficiency and sustainability.

Activities carried out during 2024 enabled the Argentina CO to optimize the efficiency and effectiveness of processes, providing higher-quality support to programs and their objectives. The implemented measures, results-oriented, not only strengthen the achievement of strategic goals but also pave the way for new opportunities for continuous improvement in processes and workflows, reducing risks and enhancing the impact of the office's actions.

The main outcomes are: The reports were developed according to the projections established, even with the many challenges of implementing Quantum and preparing the necessary documentation for the internal audit that took place in August. The staff has been working solidly, responding to the planning established for the three programmatic areas and for the development of OEEF. In March, the country office obtained approval of its strategic note for the 2023-2025 period. The G6 finance position for the office will bring a more dynamic pace to operations, accelerating delivery and efficiency. UN WOMEN Jobs - 112419- Finance Associate (undp.org) During 2023 the country office continued its efforts to strengthen its capacities to comply with security standards and risk management rules and procedures. The Security & Safety Compliance survey result improved by 7.4% with respect to the 2022 survey. The dissemination list used to forward the UNDSS daily safety recommendations allowed the entire team to have advance information on areas and times with protests in order to avoid them and not compromise their safety and physical integrity.
