Assuring an accountable organization through principled performance

In 2024, UN Women AULO effectively utilized various platforms to advance UN Women's mandate, ensuring accountability to stakeholders in Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment (GEWE), with a particular focus on supporting the African Union. This strategic engagement resulted in enhanced oversight of program implementation and the provision of technical and financial support for key intergovernmental processes, such as Beijing+30 and the AU Convention on Ending Violence Against Women and Girls. With the support of the Ethiopian Country Operations Unit, AULO sustained a safe and productive working environment by implementing robust security measures in collaboration with UN Women's regional and local UN system security teams. AULO successfully audited partners and ensured timely follow-up on audit recommendations. Despite not undergoing internal or external audits, the office maintained strict oversight of its operations. Despite challenges, including delays in recruiting procurement and finance staff due to the management transition, AULO achieved a significant impact by maintaining operational efficiency and ensuring the smooth delivery of its programs. Moreover, in 2024, AULO met all donor reporting requirements, submitting high-quality reports within the expected timelines, demonstrating its commitment to accountability and excellence.
