    Outcome insights and achievements

Outcome progress note for the year

The UN system coherently and systematically contributes to progress on gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls.

Botswana has been making notable progress in gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls, with the support of the UN system and its strategic contributions. The country has aligned with the global frameworks such as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 5, which focuses on achieving gender equality and empowering all women and girls. Under the period under review UN Women EntreprenHER project aimed at increasing women's participation in the workforce, access to financial resources, and entrepreneurship have been key areas of UN Women support. This also includes improving access to education and vocational training for girls and women.

The UN system coherently and systematically contributes to progress on gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls.

In Botswana, the United Nations system has strengthened coherent support for gender equality through joint programming and coordinated policy engagement with government institutions. Agencies such as UN Women, UNAIDS, and UNDP have aligned efforts to integrate gender across national development priorities, including HIV, governance, and economic empowerment. This has contributed to more consistent gender mainstreaming and strengthened institutional capacities across sectors. There are good signs that the UN system is increasingly delivering as one, enhancing the impact and sustainability of interventions for women and girls. UN Women Programme like EntreprenHer and HeForShe has contributed to improved access to opportunities, resources, and decision-making spaces for women and girls, advancing inclusive and equitable development outcomes.
