    Outcome insights and achievements

Outcome progress note for the year

By 2026, Botswana has strengthened resilience to shocks and emergencies, and is on a sustainable, equitable economic trajectory, reducing levels of inequality, poverty and unemployment.

Botswana has strengthened resilience to shocks and advanced a more sustainable and equitable economic trajectory through targeted women’s economic empowerment initiative like EntreprenHer. The successful implementation of the EntreprenHER programme in Jwaneng, Boteti, Southern Region, Mabutsane, and Sekoma reached 117 out of the planned 250 rural women with the Start and Improve Your Business (SIYB) training, equipping them with practical entrepreneurial and financial management skills. A Data Quality Assessment conducted by UN Women further revealed that 99% of the women trained and mentored were already operating businesses and are actively applying the acquired skills to improve performance and sustainability. Notably, these enterprises have already generated 17 jobs (12 seasonal, 2 temporary, and 3 permanent), demonstrating early employment outcomes and contributing to reducing inequality, poverty, and unemployment in rural communities.

By 2026, Botswana has strengthened resilience to shocks and emergencies, and is on a sustainable, equitable economic trajectory, reducing levels of inequality, poverty and unemployment.
