Increased engagement of partners in support of UN Women’s mandate
UN Women Country Office enhanced knowledge and learning management within the Office thanks to a new internal tool for mapping knowledge producs for decision making. This tool will serve as a repository ofknowledge products that UN Women has generated historically. As part of this effort, an internal microsite was developed and it was launched in December 2022. This Microsite centralizes and systematizes information and resources for the entire office. Un Women Country Office in Mexico has a strategic analysis of potential resource mobilization opportunities. This analysis allowed to map possible resources for the year 2023, information used to plan activities and reources in the Biennial Work Plan for the Office, apporved in December, 2022.

With the different communications strategies at Country Office and programmatic level, relevant topics such as economic empowerment and eradication of gender violence are positioned in different media. With the interagency work, communication is also positioned as key to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals. The communications work is also positioned regionally with the knowledge sharing and capacity building offered to Colombia, Urugay, Chile, among others. The generation of alliances reaches non-traditional actors with the National Chapter of Mexico of the Unstereotype Alliance with its private sector members and with the Allied Media Network that changes current mainstream coverage of women's rights by committing to gender equality and human rights principles. The CO knowledge management is growing in the office with the process to create a statistics repository with a mapping of strategic documents and knowledge sharing products at the global, regional and national levels. The knowledge products generated by the CO gets special places with academic institutions with the alliances generated and strengthened through the year with institutions such as the Colegio de México. Partnerships in UN Women have a diverse scope thanks to the different actors allied with this CO. Mexico CO works with governments at local and national level, international funds, private sector, cooperation funds and foundations. This allows a variety of projects and a diversification of resource mobilization opportunities. The CO is committed to increase its RM to count with more areas of intervention therefore, it has joined to the team a resource mobilization specialist who is working to reach more partners.

The CO staff involved in programme management and implementation know the importance of capacity assessment of potential programme partners both during programme formulation and programme implementation according to their nature (Government Entity, CSO, IGO, private sector, etc.) guided by the Programme Partner Management Policy and the Selection Programme Partners Procedure. For the private sector, prior to November 2023 the Due Diligence Policy and Procedure set the principles to assess and approve programme partners of the private sector. Since 1 November 2023, the Private Sector Engagement Policy and the Private Sector Engagement Procedure establish a systematic approach to UN Women’s development, assessment, establishment and management of private sector engagements and risks. The CO maintains constant communication with the Private Sector Partnerships (PSP) section throughout the approach with potential partners and during program formulation utilizing the resources provided by them. This guarantees alignment in priorities and strategies in accordance with the established Policy and Procedure. In addition, the CO maintains constant communication between the thematic areas to ensure a comprehensive approach with the programme partners of the private sector.

Knowledge management strategy strengthened by updating the internal Country Office (CO) Microsite and maintaining the knowledge product mapping database, including the publication inventory. These actions enhanced the organization, accessibility, and quality of knowledge resources, ensuring their alignment with a results-based approach. Data production and research efforts strenghted for Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment (GEWE). Promotion of gender equality and of the work UN Women does in the country was achieved through the communications strategy resulting in 1 UN Op-Ed was dissseminated (worked by UN Women and UNODC). During the UNITE Campaign the country representative held 15 interviews. In media: 1115 media hits with an estimated commercial value of 49,414,459 MXN - 2, 397,596.26 USD (exchange rate 20.61 MXN per Dollar).
