MWI_O_2.1A
Number of civil society participants from most marginalized communities supported by UN Women to attend multi-stakeholder convenings
In 2024, UN Women Malawi Country office developed the resource mobilization strategy to help it prioritize and broaden its resource base. The UN Women Country office will implement its resource mobilization (RM) strategy 2024-2028 aiming at securing long-term funding for the sustainability of the reminder of the UN Women current strategic note implementation allowing to achieve its mission of improving the lives of women and girls in Malawi. The objective of the RM strategy it to further diversify the donor base of the Country Office by tapping into non-traditional sources of funds while leveraging all available matching funding opportunities from traditional donors, including bilateral and multilateral donors, and the private sector. This will allow to multiply organizational resources, capacities, and innovations in the pursuit of gender equality and women’s empowerment (GEWE). The CO will diversify its donor base by engaging with other non-traditional donors and the private sector; at the same time to strengthen existing donor relations by regularly engaging them in programme reviews and increasing the visibility of different programmatic results. Targeted outreach to key decision makers within Government Ministries, especially the Ministry of Finance and Parliamentarians with influence on budget allocations will be made to continue to mobilize resources from the Government. The use of up-to-date and accessible donor intelligence reports for Malawi to ensure that the case for financial support is well informed (i.e., donors’ priorities and interests are well understood) will be the focus.
