Summary of country programme

UN Women’s Pakistan Strategic Note 2023–2027 mirrors the country’s national priorities and a UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework outcome on gender equality. Initiatives take place in the Federal Capital; the provinces of Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab and Sindh; and the region of Gilgit-Baltistan.

Through holistic strategies, the programme promotes women’s empowerment in the economy and digital and financial inclusion; women's leadership and decision-making in public spaces; knowledge on gender and climate change; and social cohesion to improve social resilience. The programme aims to advance gender equality and women’s empowerment by fostering collaboration and joint initiatives, aligning strategies, sharing knowledge and pooling resources.

UN Women leverages trusted partnerships with both duty-bearers and rights-holders at the federal, provincial and local levels. Its competitive advantage builds on strong relationships with crucial partners from the Government, civil society, development partner organizations, civil society, academia, the private sector, youth and the media.
