i-icon World Bank Income Classification:Low Income The World Bank classifies economies for analytical purposes into four income groups: low, lower-middle, upper-middle, and high income. For this purpose it uses gross national income (GNI) per capita data in U.S. dollars, converted from local currency using the World Bank Atlas method, which is applied to smooth exchange rate fluctuations. i-icon Least Developed Country:Yes Since 1971, the United Nations has recognized LDCs as a category of States that are deemed highly disadvantaged in their development process, for structural, historical and also geographical reasons. Three criteria are used: per capita income, human assets, and economic vulnerability. i-icon Gender Inequality Index:0.575 GII is a composite metric of gender inequality using three dimensions: reproductive health, empowerment and the labour market. A low GII value indicates low inequality between women and men, and vice-versa. i-icon Gender Development Index:0.723 GDI measures gender inequalities in achievement in three basic dimensions of human development: health, education, and command over economic resources.

Strategic Note Outcome Progress NoteShowing data of :2021

By 2025, women and girls have greater access to socio-economic and technological opportunities for their empowerment, and to services for the prevention and management of all forms of violence, particularly harmful practices (UNSDCF Outcome 6)

In 2021, UN Women contributed to the prevention and management of all forms of violence against women and girls. At the institutional level, UN Women supports the Ministry of Women, Family and Children in strengthening mechanisms for the protection of women and girls against violence. Thus, UN Women is also supporting this Ministry in the design of gender and HIV modules for women's education and training institutions (IFEF). This initiative will contribute to building the capacities of women and girls who are out of school or who are victims of GBV and harmful traditional practices (the modules will be taught in all the 121 IFEF in Côte d'Ivoire). Also, thanks to BUF and UBRAF funds, the help center for GBV victims (PAVIOS Center) and two platforms to combat GBV are being supported to increase its operational capacity and improve the quality of the delivered services. In addition, 162 sex workers, including LGBTs, have been trained on identifying gender-based violence, the risks of HIV/STI infection, and benefited from HIV/AIDS, STI and GBV prevention services through the UBRAF and BUF funds. Among these beneficiaries, 20 have been financially supported for the implementation of a micro-project. The objective of this financial empowerment programme is to enable each sex worker to regain her dignity through retraining. During the 16 days of activism against violence against women and girls, UN Women, in collaboration with the regional directorates of the Ministry of Women, Family and Children, organized orange marches in the cities of Daloa and Man. Through these marches, which mobilized more than 1,500 people, the population was made aware of violence against women. Regarding the holistic treatment of GBV victims, including those who live with disability and HIV, UN Women has also initiated a study to identify the HIV problems affecting people living with disability and to propose better solutions.
