More women and other under-represented groups increase their incidence in citizen participation and processes of social oversight, electoral processes and construction of a peace culture, including conflict prevention and resolution.

UN Women has contributed to strengthening the knowledge and capacities of 200 women candidates for elected office at the local and national levels, and women in civil society through the design and implementation of two virtual courses on women's political leadership at the local level from a peace-building approach to contribute to increasing their participation and advocacy as candidates for local elected office or as members of civil society networks and organizations.
