UN Women in Samoa delivers six projects in addition to specialised technical assistance to the government underpinned by support for coordination and normative processes. Working jointly with UNDP to empower women as leaders and reduce discrimination faced by women with disabilities, UN Women delivers the Women’s Leadership in Samoa (WILS) Project and the Addressing Stigma and Discrimination experienced by Women in Samoa (ASDWD) Project. In the area of Ending Violence against Women, UN Women works on the ground through both the Pacific Partnership to End VAWG and the Spotlight Initiative. In 2021, UN Women extended its work in Women’s Economic Empowerment into Samoa through the successful Markets for Change Project (currently also in Fiji, Solomon Islands, and Vanuatu). Technical advisory services in disaster response planning are provided to the government and through the Build Back Better (BBB) Project on gender statistics.
