Mali is a West African country covering an area of around 1.24 million km2, 51% of which is desert. The country faces health, security, social and political crises since 2011-2012 which led to a 5% increase in poverty as well as to an increase in challenges to achieve or goal of “creating a more secure world for women and girls in Mali.”
