With its unique and inclusive culture, UN-Women is an employer of choice with a diverse and highly performing cadre of personnel that embodies UN values
In 2025, the UN Women Ukraine Country Office prioritized creating a secure, inclusive, and high-performing work environment that reflects UN values and positions the organization as an employer of choice. Operating in a complex and high-risk context, the office implemented measures to strengthen staff resilience, professional growth, and well-being. Empowering the Workforce The office invested in capacity-building through targeted training and mentoring programs. Staff benefited from comprehensive sessions on budget management, procurement, and Quantum, alongside access to international certifications such as RBM and CIPS. A two-day induction program and a buddy system supported onboarding, while coaching and leadership development initiatives fostered career progression and organizational excellence. Inclusive and Supportive Culture Recognizing the psychological impact of prolonged crisis, the office engaged external experts to deliver mental health support, group therapy, and team-building workshops. Flexible work arrangements and relocation to shared UN premises enhanced safety and collaboration. Diversity and gender parity remained central to recruitment and retention practices, ensuring equal opportunities and representation across all levels. Duty of Care and Well-being Staff well-being was reinforced through winterization support and emergency preparedness measures. Essential supplies—including generators, power banks, and emergency water—were provided to maintain continuity during electricity and water outages. Comprehensive security training, including SSAFE, IFAK, and Women’s Security Awareness, equipped personnel to operate safely in volatile conditions. Emergency cash provisions and relocation plans ensured readiness for rapid response. Advancing Organizational Values The office promoted an inclusive culture through adherence to UN Women’s zero-tolerance policy on harassment and SEA, implementing victim-centered protocols and awareness sessions. Regular engagement in corporate surveys and leadership programs strengthened accountability and alignment with global standards. Collectively, these initiatives nurtured an empowered workforce and advanced an inclusive organizational culture—enabling staff to thrive professionally and personally while delivering results with integrity, agility, and commitment to UN Women’s mandate.
