    Strengthened UN system coordination on gender equality and women’s empowerment at the continental level (2023 – 2026)

    The AU LO played a convening role in AUGPG and led the conceptualisation an d the logistical coordination of the meetings including the mobilisation of participants and speakers, k eeping the records of the meetings and circulating them for records. UK O ffice to AU co-chaired the AUGPG supported the conceptualization of the initiative and c ontributed to the mobilisation of development partners and moderation of the sessions of the AUGPG quarterly meeting s. The collaboration en hanced the strategic importance of the platform which was evidenced by the consistent engagement of development partners in the different sessions and their support to AU led GEWE initiatives

    Strengthened UN system coordination on gender equality and women’s empowerment at the continental level (2023 – 2026)

    In 2024, UN Women AULO strengthened coordination mechanisms to enhance accountability and foster collaboration with UN partners and the AU on gender equality initiatives. Quarterly UNLT meetings, bilateral engagements, and oversight by AULO, supported by visits from the Deputy Executive Director, advanced joint efforts in the Beijing+30 Africa Review process, the AU Convention development, and the Spotlight Program. UN Women AULO played a pivotal role in aligning the UN system’s contributions, offering technical support for CSW69 preparations, organizing consultations, and leveraging partnerships with the AU to promote coordinated gender equality efforts.
