People of Burundi benefit from improved environmental and natural resource management practices and systems for preparing for and responding to natural and man-made shocks.
In 2024, UN Women Burundi contributed to saving lives and restoring survival through assistance to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and urban refugees in Bujumbura and Rumonge. Key results include: 1,497 female IDPs and 224 girls (totaling 9,598 beneficiaries) received survival kits, improving their well-being and living conditions. 1,112 patients (565 women, 239 men, and 308 children under 5) received free medical consultations and medications. 4,000 individuals (2,500 women and 1,500 men) were educated on disease prevention and sexual health. 3,500 individuals (2,451 women and 1,099 men) received psychosocial support. 133 urban refugees (95 women, 38 men) benefited from income-generating activities. 97 humanitarian actors were capacitated to integrate gender-based interventions in all phases of the Humanitarian Programming Cycle.
