In 2024, UN Women Burundi’s communication efforts played a pivotal role in documenting the organization's achievements in the humanitarian sector, leveraging its strategic partnerships with key national stakeholders and donors, including the UN Women’s Emergency Funding Mechanism in Geneva. These efforts not only highlighted UN Women's impactful interventions but also significantly enhanced its visibility in the humanitarian space. As a result of these actions, UN Women Burundi successfully positioned itself to be eligible for the SERF Fund , in collaboration with OCHA and the Government of Burundi. Furthermore, the organization secured an additional 500,000 USD from the CERF Under-Funded Emergency Window for the period of January to December 2025 , supporting its ongoing humanitarian programming. This strategic positioning demonstrates UN Women’s growing role in humanitarian action, ensuring continued funding and support for its gender-responsive interventions in crisis-affected communities.
