Outcome progress note for the year

Increased engagement of partners in support of UN Women's mandate

Partners (such as development partners, philanthropical foundations, and other organisations interested in joint intiatives) continue to increasingly reach out to UN Women on collaborations in 2022 on programming, advocacy, and policy in furtherance of UN Women's mandate. This is largely due to the increased visibility of UN Women's work through various advocacy and communication campaigns conducted as well as partnership building. Evidence of this is seen in UN Women's national media campaign on WPS reaching an audience of 1.4 million, against an initial target of 50,000, and being approached by the EU on consecutive occasions on advocacy related initiatives, which have the potential to lead to future partnerships.

Increased engagement of partners in support of UN Women's mandate

UN Women Sri Lanka’s work has appeared on local newspapers over 50 times in 2021. The office opened its first-ever social media account which has enabled new partnerships and joint initiatives on GEWE: 1. Joint week-long campaign by UNW and the Embassy of France in SL to amplify the Generation Equality Forum and localize the themes around 6 virtual discussions, featuring Sri Lankan experts. 2. Joint media campaign by UNW and the EU to raise awareness on sexual harassment in the workplace for the 16 days of activism. Two TVCs were aired on National TV. 3. Produced a documentary together with SMWCD and Govt of Japan featuring stories on the impact of Covid-19 on women and UNW’s work to support women entrepreneurs. 4. Videos were developed on the need for women's engagement in the waste management cycle, including women's role in conflict prevention.
