Outcome progress note for the year

    To leverage and manage resources

In 2021, the CO has worked on building a niche in humanitarian action. The CO was able to respond on emerging issues such as violent extremism which is still affecting Cabo Delgado and causing humanitarian crisis with thousands of IDPs searching for protection, without forgetting the central region, where military situation is also causing instability. The CO has invested more in building the capacity of implementing partners at local level to reduce the negative impacts of the triple crisis caused by conflicts, COVID 19 and extreme events due to climate change (storms, flooding, droughts). In addition, the CO has introduced work on fiscal stimulus. The CO has increased its efforts on RM and, through visits to donors, presented UN Women's work and comparative advantage, did some advocacy work, identified areas of common interest and sought for support to advance gender equality and women’s rights in Mozambique with the aim of strengthening the cooperation, especially for women and girls affected by disasters and conflict. In total, 12 visits were covered in 2021 (Sweden, World Bank, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Germany, KOICA Agency, EU and Japan: 2 visits), 1 zoom took place with Iceland. France and Agence Française de Développement were reached on the phone. In addition, bilateral meetings were organized with France, Sweden, Norway, Finland. A Gender Café was organized with partners and donors: 11 countries were represented (Norway, Netherlands, Finland, Sweden, Spain, Portugal, Canada, South-Korea, Italy, Germany, France) as well as European Union, African Development Bank Group, IOM, UNESCO and UNS. The idea was to find a participative way to discuss our common goals, work in synergy and scale-up Gender Equality and Women´s Rights and Empowerment in Mozambique as well as promoting the 16 Days of Activism. RM efforts have led to the following results: - Co-funding of EU for the new edition of the Gender Country Profile - Engagement with Direct Relief via HQ on Dignity Kits for Cabo Delgado - Won - Engagement with UNDP on cyclone Idai recovery in Sofala (II) - Won - Proposal on “Promoting the Leadership, Empowerment, Access and Protection of women and girls (LEAP) affected by conflict in Cabo Delgado” - Japan Supplementary Budget - Won - Proposal on "Promoting socioeconomic recovery and resilience of women and girls affected by disasters and internally displaced in Northern Mozambique” - KOICA Agency - Won - Proposal on "African Girls can code"- Won - 16 Days of Activism: some activities were funded by Spain, Belgium and the Netherlands. Besides, the CO is expecting an answer for the WRD proposal on Renkei Musho Funds which was submitted to Japan. The CO is also partnering closely with Norway, Iceland and the Netherlands for RM and proposals are being developed. Finally, in 2021, the CO has engaged with the private sector in promoting adherence to WEPs and implementing gender equality and women's empowerment initiatives. The CO signed an MoU with SOCODEVI, an organization with head offices in Canada, which has signed the WEPS. Through the Rural Women Economic Empowerment Project (PAEF), SOCODEVI aims to support women and girls in conducting entrepreneurial activities that are sustainable and resilient to climate change, as well as to promote women economic empowerment.

    To leverage and manage resources

In 2022, the CO mobilized a total of $3,5 Million from Norway/WPS and Japan/Humanitarian as evidenced in LEADS/DAMS.
