Outcome progress note for the year

Nurturing an empowered Workforce and advancing an inclusive UN Women culture

In 2024 UN Women Myanmar efforts to nurture an empowered workforce and advance an inclusive workplace culture continued to focus on ensuring a safe and security-informed approach to our work , using adaptive management practices in line with the complex crisis context. The recruitment of a Country Programme Coordinator was completed in mid 2024, which is a significant contribution to strengthening our national management and leadersh ip capacity . International personnel continued to work from outside the country due to continuing challenges with getting visas to enter Myanmar . In 2024 UN Women took the co rporate decision to bring on board a Representative at the same time as filling the International OM position that had been vacant for some months . With the onboarding of new incumbents in these key posts we continue to take special measures to ensure team building, trust and coordination despite the challenges of geographical separation . This includes regular contact through appropriate and safe channels, twice yearly team retreats and brining colleagues together outside the country as needed for effecti ve management, such as through the Operations Retreat in August and convening of Programme team for workshops in Decembe r . Wellbeing of Myanmar based colleagues is a priority due to the special concerns related to working and living in a crisis context . I n 2024 th ere was a dedicated mental health one-day session provided together with the UN Clinic and self-care sessions at both team retreats as well as all team discussions on concerns related to conscription, electricity and fuel shortages with flexible work practices adopted as needed.
