More effective and efficient United Nations system coordination on gender equality and women's empowerment
UN Thailand Network for Migration meeting was organized to update on the implementation of the GCM and GCR by National Working Group, detailing overview of the Royal Thai Government’s efforts to realize GCM objectives and narrative workplan. Through extensive stakeholder consultation process among diverse stakeholders from UN, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC), the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) for 2021-2026 was developed and is approved by the Cabinet. The Cooperation Framework has priorities, outcomes and focus areas, with a specific emphasis on the UN’s contribution to the government in relation to human rights, gender equality, sustainability and resilience. In addition, a considerable number of documents related to advocating gender equality and women’s empowerment in Thailand has been developed such as Common Country Assessment, UN Migration Country Workplan, UNCT GBV Sub-group’s Gap Analysis and Needs Assessment of Gender-based Violence Response System. In addition, GCM objectives and workplan, describing the priorities of the Thailand Migration Network for 2021 – 2022 has been implemented to promote the gender equality and women empowerment’s strategy in Thailand. Currently, in support of UN Women, MSDHS is planning to have bilateral meetings with executives including Director General level onwards from various departments and ministries to advocate on gender mainstreaming in their programs. Gender Responsive Budgeting (GRB) will be integrated, applying the recently developed GRB manual which is now on approval process at the Cabinet. In 2023, MSDHS will coordinate with Bureau of Budget as they are responsible for budget approval.
