In 2023, UN Women Viet Nam significantly elevated its credibility and visibility at both local and regional levels through a strategic focus on media relations and increased exposure opportunities. A gender-responsive reporting training initiative engaged 40 journalists, reporters, and content creators, equipping them with updated knowledge on gender equality. This strategy helped to generate over 553 media articles covering key gender equality and women's empowerment messages. UN Women Viet Nam's role as a knowledge hub on gender equality is evident through the development and dissemination of research reports and publications across various channels. Our research reports and advocacy documents were disseminated and received by different stakeholders including policy-makers, researchers, CSOs and general public. A total of 5,100 downloads were recorded from the UN Viet Nam website. Our social media platforms, serving as dynamic tools for engaging and informing a broader audience about UN Women's initiatives, have seen remarkable growth. As of the present date, UN Women Viet Nam's Facebook page boasts over 50,000 followers, surpassing UNDP's account, while our Twitter account has garnered 2,000 followers. Recent shifts in our social media content toward a more receptive and interactive approach have enabled us to engage more effectively with our audience. Concurrently, training sessions for approximately 80 Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) aimed to involve them in gender equality and gender-based violence prevention and responses. Post-training, these KOLs played a pivotal role in amplifying our messages, reaching an impressive 4 million viewers on social media channels.

In 2024, UN Women Viet Nam’s efforts to enhance visibility and advocacy achieved remarkable milestones, showcasing its dedication to advancing gender equality and women's empowerment. Through a strategic focus on media relations, impactful training initiatives, and dynamic social media engagement, the organization strengthened its credibility and reach at both local and regional levels. UN Women Viet Nam’s media relations strategy led to a significant increase in coverage, with over 740 media clippings recorded, a 28% rise from 576 in 2023. This growth reflects the organization’s successful efforts to position gender equality and women’s empowerment as central topics in public discourse. A critical element of this success was the gender-responsive reporting training initiative, which engaged 75 journalists, reporters, and content creators. These participants gained valuable insights and skills to produce more nuanced and impactful stories on gender-related issues, contributing to more informed and equitable media narratives. An important highlight of the year was the launch of the first-ever National Journalism Awards on Gender Equality, organized in collaboration with the Viet Nam Women’s Union and the Viet Nam Journalism Association. This groundbreaking initiative generated widespread interest, receiving nearly 370 entries from across the country in formats including print media, online media, radio, and television. The submissions revolved around three key themes: promoting gender-based violence prevention, advancing gender equality in digital transformation, and fostering gender equality in economic development. Notably, online and print media submissions dominated with 259 entries, followed by 70 television pieces and 32 radio works. Over 60% of the entries focused on gender-based violence prevention, emphasizing the media’s pivotal role in addressing this critical issue. The organization’s social media platforms also played a transformative role in raising awareness and fostering engagement. UN Women Viet Nam’s Facebook page grew to over 51,000 followers, while its Twitter account reached 2,000 followers. A shift toward interactive and engaging content enabled the organization to connect more effectively with diverse audiences. Campaigns such as #HeForSheatHome , #GenTalk , and #SheTold addressed topics ranging from men and boys’ roles in gender equality to ethnic minority women’s leadership and LGBTI+ inclusion. These campaigns, combined with the efforts of trained Key Opinion Leaders, amplified UN Women’s messages and reached an impressive 15 million viewers across various platforms. Through these efforts, UN Women Viet Nam has not only increased its visibility but also deepened its impact, inspiring action and fostering a greater understanding of gender equality. The year’s achievements underscore the organization’s capacity to leverage media and digital platforms to create meaningful change in the lives of women and girls across the country.

In 2022, as Viet Nam enters the recovery phase from COVID-19, UN Women has run numerous events, initiatives and campaigns in different key focused areas. Our activities attracted significant coverage and results on different media channels, continuing to spread the message on gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls to the Vietnamese public. VCO strengthen our relationships with the media and often spread the messages through our key activities. This year, UN Women’s work has been extensively covered on national media and social media, with 503 media clippings recorded, including online and printed articles as well as news reports on national television. Through VTV broadcasting, it is estimated that our messages have been reached about 12 million people (based on VTV rating). On social media channels including UN Women Viet Nam Facebook, UN Women Viet Nam Twitter, the number of followers has increased to 50,000 people. In general, this indicator surpassed the target.
